Cooking To Create Teams

Meet Our Team

Meet Richard

With over 25 years in food and wine publishing, Richard traveled the globe learning alongside world-class chefs before founding My Mother’s Kitchen, a New York–based cooking school. Along the way, he uncovered a powerful truth: the same principles that make a kitchen thrive—clear communication, trust, and collaboration—are the keys to high-performing teams everywhere.

What is your favorite part of facilitating culinary team-building events?
I enjoy working with diverse groups of people and watching them accomplish team goals they thought were impossible.

What’s your favorite Recipe For Success event to facilitate? Why?
It’s difficult to pick just one, but I’d say our Team Cuisine program is my favorite because it was our very first event and remains our flagship experience. Using the concept of strong team communication, participants create a multi-course international menu—without recipes. It’s amazing to watch the team process culminate in a successful project unlike anything they do with these colleagues in the workspace.

What’s your most memorable culinary team-building experience?
I led a Cooking With a Cause charity event for over 100 people. Cooking With a Cause allows our clients to partner with local charities to help feed families in need. We invite a representative from the charity to attend the event, explain their mission, and thank the client for their donation of food and staple items prepared by the client teams. At one particular program, the charity shared a video highlighting their efforts to support the local community. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

What’s one ingredient you can’t live without?
Garlic. It provides umami (depth of flavor) to almost every dish.

What was the first dish you ever cooked?
At around 10 years old, I made English muffin pizza—yum! I still make it today.

Meet Greg

Greg transforms kitchens into unforgettable team experiences. As a Culinary and Team Building Facilitator, he leads high-energy cooking and ice-carving programs that ignite collaboration, strengthen communication, and push teams just beyond their comfort zones (in the best way). With a hospitality-first mindset and decades of culinary leadership, Greg designs customized experiences for groups across the U.S. and Canada. He’s partnered with leading organizations to deliver hands-on programs that are equal parts fun, flavorful, and impactful. A proud Johnson & Wales University graduate, Greg believes the best teamwork—like the best meal—is built together.

What is your favorite part of facilitating culinary team-building events?
I love sharing unique culinary events with our participants. My favorite moment is watching faces light up when guests walk into the room and see perfect miniature kitchens laid out with colorful ingredients and shiny equipment.

What’s your favorite Recipe For Success event to facilitate? Why?
Team Cuisine is such a fun and satisfying event. Each team is tasked with preparing a component of the group’s dinner, and all the parts come together to create a beautiful and delicious buffet. Teams always have a great time chatting, prepping, cooking, and plating their creations. I also like to think that everyone leaves knowing a little more about food than when they arrived.

What’s your most memorable culinary team-building experience?
Once in Dallas, our team executed a culinary event for over 200 people divided into 32 teams. The participants created four extra-long buffet tables, each featuring eight menu items. All 220 people sat down and enjoyed this gigantic feast together. This special team-building event required an amazing amount of planning and coordination, and it was a very memorable evening for me.

What’s one ingredient you can’t live without?
I hesitate to tell people this—especially other foodies—but Kinder’s sells a product called “The Blend.” It’s a perfect mixture of salt, cracked black pepper, and crunchy garlic. I bring it to nearly all of my events, and it’s always within arm’s reach at home.

What was the first dish you ever cooked?
My earliest memories are baking cookies with my mother—snickerdoodles, to be specific.

Meet Andrew

As a chef and team-building facilitator, Andrew blends culinary artistry with meaningful human connection. With more than 22 years of combined experience in professional kitchens and collaborative events, he leads teams through immersive food experiences that go far beyond the plate. After earning multiple degrees from The Culinary Institute of America and cooking in various hotels and restaurants, Andrew brings together technique, creativity, and collaboration—transforming cooking into a powerful tool for communication, leadership, and team growth.

What is your favorite part of facilitating culinary team-building events?
Food is something we all have in common, and I love seeing participants share their skills with their colleagues—whether they knew they had those skills or not.

What’s your favorite Recipe For Success event to facilitate? Why?
I’m partial to any of our cook-off–style events because creating your own unique recipes using the same shared ingredients brings out the most competitive creativity in our would-be cooks!

What’s your most memorable culinary team-building experience?
There was one chili cook-off where a gentleman brought several different types of chilies from his home garden. We had a lot of fun bravely tasting the different spice levels! It added a bit of mystery—and plenty of heat—to the competition.

What’s one ingredient you can’t live without?
This is a fundamentally cruel question! I’ll say salt—and quietly cry inside for all the other ingredients I’d miss.

What was the first dish you ever cooked?
I think it was pizza muffins when I was little—English muffins topped with tomato sauce and mozzarella, then broiled. I felt very accomplished indeed.
